Benfica Retirement Association was set up after April 25th, 1974.
A group of residents in Benfica parish, realizing about the existing needs, decided to organize, in order to be able to better answer situations of need. Thus, on June 4, 1977, they held a meeting of residents on the premises of the Residents Association of Pedralvas and adjacent streets and created a commission.
At this Commission the Association was given the name of Retired Pensioners and Elderly of the Parish of Benfica.
On March 9, 1979, its first statutes were recorded in the ninth notary, this scripture was noted as headquarters Reformed Commission, paragraph 115 of the Rua Républica da Bolivia. In an undetermined date, the Commission reformed established its headquarters in the parish council facilities, where it remains.
In 2000 with new statutory change, it has been renamed as:
Benfica Retirement Association.
